First‑five Beauden Barrett steered the Hurricanes into Super Rugby's quarterfinals with 18 individual points as his side beat the Waratahs 28‑17 in Sydney.

Barrett scored a try, set up two others for Julian Savea and Cory Jane and kicked 13 points as they advanced to 48 points in the table.

He scored all of the Hurricanes first half points, with two penalties and a try.

Fiji-born wing Taqele Naiyaravoro scored a try for the Waratahs in the match.

In other Super Rugby results from last night, the Crusaders thrashed the Rebels 85-26, the Stormers beat Western Force 22-3, the Bulls thrashed the Sunwolves 50-3, Sharks defeated the Cheetahs 26-10.

On Friday, the Chiefs beat the Reds 50-5, the Blues defeated the Brumbies 40‑15 and the Lions thrashed the Southern Kings 57-21.
