The Publisher and Managing Director of Fiji Sun, Russel Hunter was taken in for questioning last night and Hunter's whereabouts is yet to be established by his family and staff.

Village News has received confirmation that Hunter was taken in at about 8:30 last night by some immigration officers.

Fiji Sun Editor, Leone Cabenatabua has confirmed to Village News that Hunter was at his home at Ragg Avenue with his wife and visiting daughter when about seven people arrived at their home to talk to Hunter.

Cabenatabua said two of the people in the group claimed that they were Immigration officers and wanted to see his passport. After finding out that all his travel documents were in order, Hunter was taken in for questioning.

It has been confirmed that Hunter still has 18 months remaining under his current work permit.

We have been informed a few minutes ago that Cabenatabua and Hunter's family have just found out that Russel Hunter has been listed on a Sydney flight from the Nadi International Airport at about 8:45 this morning.

Cabenatabua said Hunter's family are really worried as they do not know his whereabouts and are shocked to hear that his name is now listed for a flight to Australia.

We are trying to speak to Immigration Director, Viliame Naupoto. Our reporter is currently at Nadi Airport.  

When we contacted the Interim Defence Minister, Ratu Epeli Ganilau in the last hour, he said he is unaware of Hunter's whereabouts. However Ratu Epeli said he will conduct the checks when he reaches the office and will comment after the cabinet meeting today.
