Former New Zealand 7s rep Nigel Hunt is here in the country not only to help his side win the first ever Digicel Suva International 7s but also to win a spot in the New Zealand team for the next leg of the IRB 7s series.
Hunt said it was unfortunate for him to be injured during the NPC tournament which saw him ruled out for a few months.
He added being given a chance to travel to Fiji with the Manawatu 7s team will be a good time for him to try and win back a place in the Gordon Tietjens coached side.
Hunts believes the Suva International 7s will be more challenging as most of their opponents are unknown teams.
Manawatu is in Pool C with PNG, Suva and Wardens. They will play Suva in their opening pool game at 6.23 this evening.
The 2010 Suva International 7s kicks off at 4.40 this afternoon with PNG playing the Wardens in the opening match of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Tier Two competition in the Suva Rugby Sevens Festival is currently underway at the tfl National Stadium also at Bidesi and Burkhurst Park grounds.
QVS in their opening match were held to a 5-all draw by Seahawks, Waimanu went down to Cagivou 7-12, Teivovo won by default over Flagstaff.
Eagle Brothers beat Raralevu 21-0.
The Tier two competition will continue tomorrow with quarterfinals, semifinals and final to be played on Saturday.
