Hundreds of people living in Lokia Sigatoka are still without bus service for the last six months.

Dominion Transport stopped its services due to illegal services provided by some private vehicles and poor road conditions.

A resident Pratap Chand said people have to walk for over 2 miles to catch a bus and hiring other means of transport is very expensive. Chand adds that the road has not been graded for a long time.

Meanwhile, LTA spokesperson, Ratu Eroni Volavola said two companies have shown interest in providing services on this route however the LTA board has to give the approval before any of the companies can start providing the service.

He added that discussions are underway on the road license and how much fare will be charged. Ratu Eroni said a decision will be made soon.
