Hundreds of students have been badly affected over the last two days due to water cuts in the Suva area with one school forced to send children home early.
Public Works Department spokesperson, Maika Nagalu confirms that due to a burst main along Laucala Bay road, schools along Nasese, including Suva Grammar were affected.
Nagalu said engineers are currently working on the burst main but water will not normalise until tomorrow. Water trucks are expected to cart water to the affected areas.
Students of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Primary School have been sent home once again as the school is facing water cuts.
Speaking to Fijivillage News, Assistant Principal Mahendra Singh said it’s unfortunate because yesterday they were faced with the same situation.
Singh adds the water cuts are affecting student's trial exams.
Parents have been asked to make arrangements to pick up their children from the school.
Meanwhile when contacted, Water Supply Department Media Liaison Officer Maika Nagalu said he was unaware of the problem but will look into the matter.
