More than 100 players will be giving it their all in front of selectors for a place in the Digicel Fiji 7s team for the Wellington and Las Vegas 7s.
It is understood that the squad will be named immediately after the Uprising International 7s tournament and will also be used as a platform to prepare the team for New Zealand.
Rugby 7s legend, Eric Rush is confident that all overseas based teams that will be taking part in the Uprising International 7s will receive a lot of competition from the local based teams.
Rush said that one such team to look out for is Ratu Filise, a team from Namatakula in Nadroga.
He added that many of the clubs playing in Fiji are as good as the Fiji national team and when they play against an overseas side, the players feel like they are representing their country.
In recent years, Ratu Filise has won the 2009 Suva 7s Lautoka tournament, the 2010 Nawaka 7s and has also toured Canada, Italy and USA.
Other local teams that have confirmed their participation include Wardens, Police, Marist, Ratu Filise, and Uprising Fiji.
The two-day Uprising International 7s kicks off at the TFL Stadium on January 21-22 2012.
