Hundreds mark Civil Service Public Week
While opening the celebrations, Minister for Local Government Colonel Samuela Saumatua stressed that failure is not an option in government's overall plans to have an efficient and productive civil service.
Colonel Saumatua said we must and will succeed in this plan in moving towards changing and reforming the civil service, in line with Pillar 4 of the Peoples Charter which is all about Enhancing Public Sector Efficiency, Performance Effectiveness and Service Delivery.
All Government departments are billeted in tents and offering the public information on their services and Permanent Secretary for Information Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni said people should make use of this week.
Meanwhile, motorists have expressed frustration as Town hall road and part of Stinson Parade upto JJ's on the Park has been closed off as the Ministry tents have been erected on the road. This has led to major traffic congestion in downtown Suva.
Permanent Secretary for PSC Parmesh Chand is expected to comment later today on the closure of the road.
