As hundreds of people are expected to flock to the beaches over the next three days to spend time with family and friends, people are being urged to be mindful that some beaches are located on private properties and you may be charged for using the beach.

Fijivillage has come across a number of beach front locations along Pacific Harbour and the Coral Coast in Sigatoka, where property owners charge as much as $3 to $5 per person for using the beach.

Interim Minister for Lands Netani Sukanaivalu said people should not try and take advantage of the situation and stressed that people should be given free access to all public beaches.
