Huge waves experienced along the Coral Coast this morning affected some hotels.

An assessment by Police revealed that water went into 30 rooms at Shangri La's Fijian Resort.

Sea walls have also been damaged.

Water also went inside three beach side villas in the Naviti Resort and Spa and its restaurant.

Tambua Sands in Namada and Fiji Hideaway Resort in Sigatoka were also not spared.

Water entered into the rooms and bures and some guests had to move to higher ground.

Meanwhile, huge waves are expected again later tonight and tomorrow morning as the next high tides are at 9pm and 9am tomorrow.

The Nadi Weather Office said a high pressure system situated in the South West of the country coincided with huge waves at around 8am today which was witnessed by people living along the coastal areas in Sigatoka.

Meanwhile, more rain accompanied with thunderstorm and flash flooding of low lying areas has been predicted by the Nadi weather office.

A trough of low pressure remains over Fiji slowly moving northwards and wet weather will be experienced over eastern Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and Lau and Lomaiviti Group this weekend.
