How prepared are the authorities in Fiji to face the aftermath of natural disasters?
This question is being continually discussed at the Disaster Management Exercise workshop at the Novotel Hotel where representatives from various overseas organisations made presentations who deal with aiding those countries which are affected by natural disasters.
Center for Excellence Director Lieutenant General John Goodman who is based in Hawai told Fiji Government representatives that during a natural disaster, it’s important to gauge what kind of immediate help is needed from the international community before a request for help is made.
Lt Gen Goodman than stressed when help arrives during a natural disaster, it needs to be well coordinated so that the most affected benefit first.
