Acting Prime Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the Prime Minister has raised questions on how he can talk to other party leaders in parliament about issues when they oppose several government policies and initiatives.

While speaking in parliament, Sayed-Khaiyum said some of these leaders are even opposing the constitution.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the country is on the right path and they are making good progress.

The leader of the National Federation Party, Biman Prasad had said in parliament that the total lack of dialogue both within and outside parliament between the three political party leaders in the past year has stood out like a sore thumb.

Prasad said the Prime Minister, leader of opposition and he did not have any informal conversation let alone a cup of tea together, apart from sometimes his and hellos during parliament debates.

Meanwhile, Sayed-Khaiyum also stresses that Parliamentary Standing Orders state that all parliamentarians should speak in English to ensure that everyone can understand what is being talked about in parliament.

He raised this issue after concerns raised by some members of the opposition on why they cannot speak in the iTaukei language.

Meanwhile parliament had to take a vote on the motion that parliament thanks President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau for his speech in the house last week.

The vote had to be taken after some members of the opposition indicated that they did not support the speech.
