South Africa 7s player Francois Hougaard will not be part of the next four tournaments in the HSBC World Sevens Series.
Hougaard who has a one‑year contract with the South African Rugby Union has been granted leave to join English club Worcester in the Aviva Premiership.
He will miss the Las Vegas, Vancouver, Hong Kong and Singapore 7s but will be back for the Paris and London 7s.
This would also make him available to play in the Olympics.
But as good news for South Africa, Captain Kyle Brown, Cecil Afrika and Branco du Preez have all recovered from their injuries.
The Las Vegas 7s will be held from the 5th to the 7th of next month.
Fiji is pooled with Samoa, France and Argentina.
