Hotels and resorts will be up and buzzing in the next few days as they prepare for New Year's Eve on Thursday night.

Uprising Beach Resort in Pacific Harbour said they have a big surprise set up for their guests to greet the New Year.

Operations Manager Leone Yaragamudu said that a lot of activities have been planned but they want to keep it under wraps and to give their guests a surprise, but he is adamant they will not regret the celebrations.

Yaragamudu said they always have a special treat for their guests every year, and this one they plan to be bigger and better.

Meanwhile, Volivoli Beach Resort in Rakiraki is also buzzing with activities, and tour coordinator Waisake Rawaidranu said that they plan to have a huge bon-fire on New Year's Eve to allow their guests to rally in as one and greet 2010.

New Year's Eve will be celebrated on Thursday night before the dawn of the New Year, 2010 on Friday midnight.

The Outrigger on the Lagoon Resort at the Coral Coast is heading towards a big countdown for 2010.

Spokesperson Una Murray said with the hotel occupancy standing at 100 percent, the hotel guests need to experience a good showdown to welcome the New Year.
