In an effort to reduce the risk of crimes committed in hotels, the Suva Hotel and Motel owners attended a Crime Free meeting facilitated by the Tourist Police to discuss ways to work better together.

National Coordinator Tourism Police, Assistance Superintended of Police Makereta Ciri said the aim of the meeting was to assist hotels and motels in conducting security check lists on their own business premises to help minimize the risks of crime being committed on their properties.

Ciri added that whilst safety and security is the core responsibility of Police, management has the primary duty to ensure security of their business properties, staffs and house guests first.

Ciri said that an Assessment Check list has been distributed to some other hotels in regards to security measures which will be checked in two weeks time.
