As the new minimum wage rates for the nine industries has been in effect from the first of this month, a few hotel operators have not implemented it as yet claiming that they are awaiting listings from the Labour ministry to table at their board meetings.

Fijivillage has contacted a number of hotels and resorts around the country on the increase in the wages order who say they are yet to implement the orders as they need the listing before the new wages can be passed on to their workers.

However, Father Barr stressed that employers were given more than adequate time to prepare to implement the new wage regulations.
