The 15 employees of the Nadi Hotel are expected to be made redundant after the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) decided to re-develop the Nadi Hotel site.

FNPF Board Chairman Parmesh Chand confirmed that the board has made the decision, which would mean the closure and demolition of the hotel to facilitate the development, with a market study being finalized on the project.
Chand said they are mindful that their decision will affect the hotel workers thus the need to dialogue with them and their representatives on a satisfactory redundancy package.

He stressed that the decision to close the hotel is a commercial one which will eventually benefit FNPF members.

Chand told Fijivillage that a scoping study will be carried out to determine the extent of renovations and how much it will cost the FNPF.

Fiji Hotel and Allied Industries Employees Union General Secretary Daniel Urai says they are also negotiating to try and have these workers employed at Natadola when it opens next year.
