Hospitals and Health Centres around the country are well prepared to handle any cases of Influenza H1N1.
Acting Deputy Secretary Public Health, Doctor Josaia Samuela said that Fiji is fully prepared for Influenza H1N1 virus with the continuous awareness and so far 41 people have been tested for Influenza like symptoms.
Dr Samuela adds hospitals and health centres have adopted a new procedure of handling patients who have flu like symptoms.
Meanwhile Papua New Guinea has reported its first case of the Influenza H1N1 virus and it is believed that the person visited Australia recently where more than 2000 people have contracted the flu. The number of confirmed cases continues to rise with latest figures standing at 39,620, with 167 deaths.
