A mother and her 5 year old son have died in a horrific road accident in Yasiyasi, Tavua, that occurred yesterday evening.
Director Traffic Control SSP Ramend Raj has confirmed that the accident took place when the vehicle driven by the deceased's husband went off the road and hit a culvert.
According to police, the family, who is from Malolo, Nadi, were returning after visiting their relatives in Tavua.
It is believed the man lost control of the vehicle which went off the road and hit the side of the culvert.
Both died instantly.
The driver and his 8 year old daughter survived.
