A 54-year-old digger operator of Wailailai, Ba, died after he was attacked by honey bees in Tavua yesterday.

Media liaison officer Atunaisa Sokomuri has confirmed that the man was widening a cane access road in Tavua when he accidently brought down a bee hive.

He was attacked by honey bees and died a few minutes later. Some other employees who were with the deceased reported the matter to police.

Police are awaiting the post mortem report.

Meanwhile, police are calling on members of the public not to keep kerosene and other fuel in soft drink bottles.

This comes after a 14-year-old secondary school student of Labasa accidently drank kerosene yesterday morning.

The boy, who was getting ready to go to school, drank the kerosene thinking that it was water. The kerosene was kept in a soft drink bottle near the sink.

He is admitted at the Labasa hospital.
