The Holy Cross College athletics team from Taveuni has sent out a strong message to their closest rivals, ACS, that they will be out to win the gold medal in the Senior Girls 4 x 400 metres relay.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Holy Cross head coach Navitalai Waiwalu said they are looking to repeat that at next week’s meet.
The Holy Cross Senior Girls 4 x 400 metres relay team bagged the gold medal last year.
However, ACS under the guidance of John Lum Kon is confident that with Salote Mereula, their middle distance sprint star in the Senior Girls 4 x 400 metres relay team, they will win.
ACS also set a new record in the race in the Triple N Zone finishing with a time of 4 minutes and 11 seconds but the Coca Cola Games record stands at 4 minutes 5 seconds set by Vunisea Secondary School in 2007.
The two day Coca Cola Games kicks off at the TFL National Stadium on Friday next week.
Meanwhile, the Coca Cola Games Torch will visit Vunikaloko Junior, Tavua College, Xavier College, Ba Methodist and Ba Sanatan College today and will stay at Jasper Williams High School.
