The first day of the semifinals in the Open event of the World Hobie championship is currently underway at the Laucala Bay in Suva.

Team Fiji has five teams in the semis and team captain Graham Southwick said with their current performance he's confident that they will have few teams in the final for the first time.

The semifinals will continue till Wednesday with top 50 boats qualifying for the finals to be held on Thursday and Friday.
