The World Hobie Cat organizing committee will be hosting the South Pacific Championships in Laucala this weekend.
Speaking to Village Sports, committee member Graham Southwick said only about ten to twelve teams will be taking part in the four day competition as most of the teams are concentrating on the World Championships in October.
Southwick adds that this week's South Pacific Championships will also include renowned sailors.
The championship is also a buildup championship before the team leaves our shores for the Pacific Games in Samoa.
The four-day championship begins on Saturday at the Laucala foreshore.
