It was an historic and memorable event for the people of Keiyasi and the Fiji Water Foundation as a water project was completed on Monday.

An American writer and adventurer Sheree Lipton visited Keiyasi forty years ago and saw the great need Keiyasi had for access to clean water where the norm had been to cart water from Sigatoka River for washing, cooking and drinking and where pit toilets were still used.

At the launch of her book "A Woman in the South Pacific" last year in Suva at the US Ambassador's residence, Fiji Water's Director External Affairs David Roth was captivated by her passion for life in the South Pacific and in particular her experiences at Keiyasi.

Lipton told Roth on the need in Keiyasi and this conversation lead to the development and Fiji Water Foundation was able to embark on the mission to provide clean and reliable water for the people of Keiyasi village.

Fiji Water Foundation was also humbled and honored by a surprise presentation made by US Ambassador Steven McGaan.
