A  man who was hired to murder a jeweler in Nadi four years ago was yesterday handed a life sentence by Judge Justice Paul Madigan in the Lautoka High Court.

On 18th September 2006, Jack Fraser murdered Kamlesh Nanda for money on the orders of someone else for $20,000 without even knowing why he was to be killed.

Judge Madigan also said that Fraser only received $2,000 as part of the contract fee which he spent on alcohol adding that he took the life of the father of a long awaited baby and employee of a manufacturing jeweler because of his greed.

Judge Madigan also noted that Fraser acted on the orders of what appeared to be a competitor in the jewelry trade.

Kamlesh Nanda, an employee of Raniga Jewelers in Nadi, was murdered in front of his house in 2006 when he had returned from work.

Justice Madigan sentenced Fraser to 16 years imprisonment.
