Hindus around the country have started fasting this morning as they mark the end of Ram Naumi celebrations today.

Many may seek an early break from their employers and flock into temples and other places where this occasion will be celebrated at around midday.

After lunch, Hindus will be distributing sweets and food to close friends and relatives.

They will be seen around beaches and river banks throwing flowers and other offerings into the water this afternoon.

Before this ceremony, every year permission is sorted from Ports Authority and Police.

The Sanatan Dharam has called on Hindus not to litter around the beaches and river banks as they may be taken to task.

Ram Naumi is a celebration of the birth of Lord Rama.
