Cleaning of properties has begun for many Hindu’s around the country while preparing for the Festival of Lights, Diwali.
The Secretary of the largest Organization representing Hindu's in the country, Shri Sanatan Dharam Prathinidhi Sabha of Fiji said that cleaning the houses, compounds and business places is compulsory to attract the Goddess of Wealth, Latchmi.
Sharma said this is that time of the year when many Hindu's concentrate on making their homes more attractive to the Goddess.
Sharma said that after the cleaning process, shopping, cooking of sweets and making of traditional art design known as Rangoli will take place.
This year's Diwali falls on 17th October.
