Hindu organizations support National Council
Representing the majority of the Hindu population in the country, Shree Sanatan Dharam Prathinidhi Sabha of Fiji said it has decided to support the Council on the condition that it will take the country forward and work towards eliminating racial discrimination.
General Secretary Kamal Sharma while speaking in a talkback show on our Sister Station, Radio Sargam stressed that at the end of the day, the Organisation wants to see that people do not lose their jobs and they have a decent meal three times a day. He said the Council's proposal looks good in taking the country forward towards democracy and now it has to be implemented and followed.
Meanwhile, another religious organization, Arya Prathinidhi Sabha of Fiji said it has agreed to support the Council with the objective of rebuilding Fiji into a non-racial, culturally vibrant and united, well-governed, truly democratic nation that seeks progress and prosperity through equality, opportunity and peace.
Sabha President, Kamlesh Arya said there are people saying that those supporting the Council support the December 5th takeover, however he said the Sabha has never and will never support any coup.
But he said if the country is to move forward then it can only be done by getting involved in talks, rather than standing aside and criticizing it.
