The Department of National roads will no longer handle the maintenance and upgrade of roads around the country.

Minister for Local Government, Colonel Samuela Saumatua made this revelation while launching the $1.5 million project by Highway Stabilizers where they will be constructing seven new roads in the Wailada subdivision.

Colonel Saumatua said the project is part of the outsourcing initiative that was announced in the 2010 National Budget last year.

Saumatua revealed that the Centre coordinating Agency for Roads or CCRA which was launched in July last year, will now handle all road maintenance issues.
