The Highlanders have delivered a performance that has deserted them all Super Rugby season, beating the Blues 38-28 in Dunedin last night.

Fullback Ben Smith scored twice in the first 40 minutes.

Hosea Gear and Tamati Ellison also crossed the try line in the first spell with two penalty goals from Colin Slade.

In another match last night, the Reds came from behind to clinch a 33-20 win over the Rebels in Brisbane.

Meanwhile, the Bulls opened an eight point gap at the top of the South African Super Rugby conference with a 30-25 victory over the Cheetahs this morning.

The result leaves the Bulls two points behind the Chiefs at the top of the overall standings. 

In another match, the Stormers bashed and crashed their way to a 19-11 victory over the Kings.
