The Highlanders needs to dig deep now if they want a semifinal spot after a 28-16 loss to the Sharks.

The Otago based Highlanders will need to find something extra if they are to see off the Hurricanes in Dunedin this weekend.

To make matters worse the Highlanders injury list has deepened with Doug Tietjens B the Highlanders' third string openside flanker hobbling off just a quarter of an hour into the game against the Sharks.

Meanwhile, it was sweet revenge for the Crusaders after beating the defending champions the Reds 15-11 yesterday.

The Chiefs still lead the table with 44 points followed by the Stormers with 42 and the Brumbies with 35 points.
