Doubles from Matt Faddes and Waisake Naholo have lifted the Highlanders to a crucial 34-26 win over the Crusaders and created a log-jam at the top of the New Zealand Super Rugby conference.

The Highlanders outscored the Crusaders five tries to two in an intense victory last night.

The bonus point win means the Highlanders, Crusaders and Chiefs are now all locked up on 37 competition points.

Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph said he was delighted with how his team resisted an intense wave of attack from the Crusaders during the first 20 minutes.

In another match, the Brumbies beat the Rebels 30-22.

Meanwhile, in tonight’s matches the Hurricanes will take on the Reds at 7.35pm, the Waratahs will face the Bulls at 9.40pm while the Sunwolves will meet the Stormers at 11.45pm.
