The Highlanders rugby board still believes coach Jamie Joseph is the right man to be in charge of the team even after 7 straight losses.

General manager Roger Clark said Joseph still has the Dunedin Super Rugby franchise's full backing and adds that criticism of midfielder Ma’a Nonu is “absolutely ridiculous”.

The Highlanders were tipped to make the play offs this year after they had signed a host of big names.

This season’s losses have the Highlanders in last place in the Super Rugby standings on six points which is nine points behind the Rebels, Southern Kings and the Force.

The Highlanders will host the Crusaders at 7:35pm this Saturday.

On Friday the Hurricane play the Force at 7:35pm while the Waratahs meet the Chiefs at 9:40pm.
