As the higher courts remain closed since the abrogation of the 1997 constitution on April 10th, all High Courts, the Fiji Court of Appeal and Supreme Court cases are still being adjourned for a one month period.

Court officials confirmed that they have been directed to assign new dates for all cases listed for hearing or mention.

The courts are accepting case files and are assigning dates in June and July.

Meanwhile, a notice from the Chief Registrar Major Ana Rokomokoti at the High court registry reads and Fijivillage quotes, "Please be advised that the offering and acceptance of gifts, presents or cash by judicial staff members are strictly prohibited. Anyone found doing so will be dealt with accordingly."

The Chief Registrar refused to comment on the reason the notice has been put up when contacted this afternoon.
