The Education Ministry has set up the Higher Education Commission and its Secretariat in Suva.
Education Minister Filipe Bole made this known at the opening ceremony of the two day Malaysian Higher Education Exhibition at the Holiday Inn this morning.
Bole said the Commission is responsible for regulation and growing the higher education sector in Fiji, and they will be able to liaise directly with any other higher education commissions around the world in matters relating to higher education.
Bole said key players in higher education in Fiji have been tossing around development concepts which they hope to use as the building blocks of higher education in Fiji in the next 10 years.
He added the Commission's website will be launched shortly.
