FASANOC has high hopes that Team Fiji will be allowed to compete at this year's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
President Vidhya Lakhan said they have opted for a three member tribunal and has nominated a QC from New Zealand as its nominee on the panel for FASANOC's appeal to Court Of Arbitration For Sports (or CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
He said the Commonwealth Games Federation will also be invited to nominate a candidate while CAS will apoint the third member.
Lakhan said they have asked for the matter to be resolved soon, as athletes have to prepare for the games.
According to Lakhan, they have a valid argument as to why Fiji should be included in the games.
Fiji was earlier suspended by the Commonwealth and thus it was told by the Commonwealth Secretariat that Team Fiji would not be allowed to compete in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in October in New Delhi.
