Children in rural areas have a higher case of having hearing and vision impairments than children in urban areas.
This is according to the Hearing and Vision Enhancement Organization HEAVEN project, who has found that close to 10 percent of 350,000 children they have examined have vision and hearing impairments.
HEAVEN project chairperson Malcolm Patterson said this is due to the lack of awareness in the rural areas among parents and teachers.
Meanwhile, HEAVEN project received $AUS150,000 from the Australian High Commission at Veiuto yesterday.
