The Police and Land Transport Authority joint Breathalyzer Operation that started on 12th December to today, has so far seen a 116 arrests for drunk driving out of 13,000 who took the breathalyzer test.

Deputy Director Operations SSP Erami Raibe said the Police around the country intercepted 23,000 vehicles out of which 711 drivers were found speeding, 31 drivers found not wearing seatbelts, 49 cases of careless driving and 1,012 other traffic related offences.

SSP Raibe also raised concern on the 711 speeding cases which is always a reason for accidents on our roads.

He has urged members of the public to comply with road safety rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, our road death toll for this year stands at 66 compared to 58 last year.
