High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar this morning was stunned after learning that a woman came all the way from Rotuma to challenge an earlier Court ruling.

Makareta Irava Tomasi this morning took to the stand and informed Justice Goundar that she was not happy with the fine of $500 that was handed down on her.

Tomasi had appeared in Rotuma court earlier this year charged with driving an unregistered vehicle and was fined $500 and had two merit points taken away from her.

She informed Justice Goundar that she had already paid her wheel tax and also added that when she went to pay her fine, LTA officials told her that $500 was excessive.

Justice Goundar then asked her how much did she pay to come to Suva to challenge the ruling, to which she replied that she had paid $155 one way in order to have her grievances heard.

The matter has been adjourned to next Tuesday.
