High Court Judge, Justice Filimoni Jitoko today granted a stay on the application on retirement age for civil servants from 60 to 55 years.

A judicial review was filed by Fijian Teachers Association in April, with the Fiji Public Service Association joining a month ago. FTA Counsel, Joseva Raika-droka and FPSA Council, Hamendra Nagin were happy with the decision.

The court will now rule on the 30th of October on the retirment age issue, whether it will remain at 55 or 60.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of Fijian Teachers Association, Maika Namudu said they have been given 14 days notice to submit FTA's affadavit in court. He said FTA is pleased with the stay order.
