If Scott Higginbotham had not made the Wallabies, a Fijian test jersey would have been his choice.

It is not well known outside of Queensland and even in Fiji but Higginbotham actually has Fijian heritage.

His mother Jocelyn was born in Fiji and migrated to Australia when she was 10.

Higginbotham said his mum is about a quarter Fijian and his got a few relatives in Fiji who are three-quarters.

He added his mum’s parents and his aunts still talk a fair bit of Fijian but he cannot speak anything.

Higginbotham goes on to say a lot of Fijians will walk past him and say bula.

He said he always had that in the back of his mind that if he had not played for the Wallabies, he had a back-up plan to play test rugby for Fiji.
