A new champion will be crowned in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s after defending champions Wardens Gold was thrashed by Hideaway Hurricanes in the semi-final by 29-0 at the ANZ Stadium.

The Fiji Bitter Marist 7s final will be played at 7pm between Hideaway Hurricanes and Tabadamu Blue.

Hideaway Hurricanes scored four tries against Wardens Gold.

Vodafone Fiji 7s player Jasa Veremalua scored twice for the Hideaway Hurricanes while other tries were scored by Ratu Liu and Ben Batirerega.

Vice-Captain Veremalua told Fijivillage that he has told his players to be consistent in their defence and focus on more communication in the field.

Veremalua also said he will do his best if he is given another chance in the Vodafone Fiji 7s team.

Meanwhile, Tabadamu Blue came from behind to beat Police National in the second semi-final by 17-12.

Police was leading 12-0 at half time and Tabadamu scored two unanswered tries to level the scores 12-all at full time.

In sudden death Maleli Bula scored the winning try for Tabadamu Blue.

Tabadamu has never won the Marist 7s.

Meanwhile, the Hideaway Hurricanes created the first upset of the quarterfinals of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s beating Tokatoka Westfield Babas 21-12.

Vodafone Fiji 7s playmaker Emioni Naisilasila was outstanding scoring two tries and setting up one try for the Hideaway Hurricanes.

Other star players in the Hideaway Hurricanes were Jasa Veremalua, Isoa Gavidi and Aparosa Tabulawaki.

In the first quarterfinal, defending champions Wardens Gold thrashed Ratu Filise 1 26‑0, Police National beat Redrock 12-0 and Tabadamu Blue beat Wardens Green 19‑5.
