As the Fiji Nursing Association executives get ready to meet with the interim government this morning, Commodore Frank Bainimarama said helpless patients in hospitals around the country need the nurses who are on strike.
Commodore Bainimarama confirms that he has offered the services of the soldiers to assist at the hospitals but the nurses are needed to provide the health services.
As the FNA maintains at this stage that they are on strike for an indefinite period, the Interim PM said the nurses should understand that the patients will suffer.
Commodore Bainimarama has revealed to Village News that he is ready to look into the demands of the FNA however the Association's timing of the strike and their demands is not right.
Just hours before Commodore Bainimarama meets with the FNA General Secretary, Kuini Lutua, he has made it clear that the FNA will be told that the interim government cannot meet the nurses demands at this stage.
He said the interim government understands the nurses situation over the past years and calls on them to be patient.
