In the history of soccer, a first ever team from the Pacific Island will represent Oceania in the FIFA Club World Cup.

This is after Hekari United claimed Oceania's first, after qualifying for the FIFA Club World Cup on aggregate.

Hekari United, although lost the second leg O-League final to Waitakere 2-1 this afternoon, but a 3-nil home win in the first leg was enough for them to seal a place, which never ever has any Pacific Island team been able to achieve.

Two of Fiji's most prominent soccer players, namely Pita Bolaitoga and Tuimasi Manuca, will be playing for Hekari United.

Waitakere United's 2 1 victory was not enough for the home side to claim their third title in the competition.

Instead it was the Papua New Guineans who were celebrating as they became the first team from outside New Zealand and Australia to claim the OFC Champions League.
