Diwali is less than a month away as the Attorney Generals Chambers has warned members of the public to be wary of fireworks which are not permitted to be used as they could face a hefty fine.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade confirmed that Fireworks can be used any day of the year, but within the time frame of 5pm to 10pm except for Diwali day and New Years.
The fireworks ban is under the Trade Standards and Quality Control Decree 1992.
Fire works that are banned include spherical display shell, aerial shell, parachute shell, sound shell, moon traveller, whistling moon traveller, rockets and rockets without sticks, woodpeckers, bangers, lady crackers and pulling string crackers.
Breach of the declaration will lead to penalties under section 50 of the Decree and upon prosecution carries fines of up to $25,000.
Meanwhile it is confirmed that fountains, sparklers, spinners, low hazard fireworks, wheels, helicopters, ground spinners, and 21 shot candles are permitted for use.
