The Pacific Centre for Public Integrity Director, Angie Heffernan was this morning dropped off a flight to Tonga despite arriving almost 2 hours before the flight and having a confirmed ticket.

In a statement released, Heffernan said she was on her way to Tonga to provide training on Rights to Information Law at two separate NGO and media workshops as part of PCPI's regional Rights to Information Campaign.

PCPI also stated that while in Tonga, Heffernan would also be meeting with forum officials to lobby on Fiji, particularly on the lack of concrete action taken by the military interim regime to prepare the country for an early return to Parliamentary democracy.

According to Heffernan when she checked in she was told that she was on standby and did not have a confirmed booking and upon more questioning she was told that it was due to a storm in Tonga.

Heffernan adds that the excuses of Air Pacific are unacceptable and irregular and she has called on Air Pacific to explain themselves.

Air Pacific is expected to comment later.
