The Board of Directors of the Pacific Center for Public Integrity (PCPI) has instructed their executive director Angie Heffernan to remain in Wellington, New Zealand as they are concerned over her safety and possible travel restrictions by the interim government.
PCPI chairperson Lionel Gibson confirmed that it was a collective decision by the board, in light of the circumstances faced by Heffernan while she was in the country.
Speaking from Wellington, Heffernan confirmed that her family had been relocated to New Zealand as she is concerned for their safety.
However, speaking to Fijivillage Deputy Secretary for Information Major Neumi Leweni said once against the PCPI and Heffernan's concerns are baseless. He said it is not prudent to comment as the case is before the court.
