The Southern Lau group is now being pounded by heavy winds and strong winds.
Temo, who is the Post Master on Naroi village, Moala, said trees are being uprooted as the strong winds take its toll.
The village of Yaroi in Matuku is also experiencing very strong winds and rain.
Noa Yavala from the village of Yaroi, who resides in the premises of Yaroi Primary School said that the villagers have been woken up by the sound of the waves hitting the reef.
Yavala added it is very dark and they cannot see the destruction being caused by the strong winds, but has heard some corrugated iron being blown away.
