Heavy rains forces closure of bridge
Cemetery Road Bridge in Rarawai, Ba is still closed to all traffic, as it is under one foot of water from last night.
Ba police confirmed water is receding as rainfall has eased.
Flood waters in other areas in Ba have also receded this morning.
Works Ministry spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete confirmed this adding Koronivia and the Cautata flats are also flooded however not closed to all traffic and people should take precaution when crossing them.
People living in low-lying areas of Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Korovou right to Rakiraki have been warned to take precautions today as the threat of flash flooding remains.
The Weather Forecaster at Nadi Weather office Misa Funaki confirmed the low pressure system associated with cloud bands still lies over the group however is slowly moving eastwards.
He said there will not be widespread flooding however the flash flooding may be due to blocked drains.
Funaki said weather in the Western Division of Viti Levu has improved adding heavy down pour in other areas of Viti Levu is expected to ease later in the afternoon.
