The Nadi Weather Office has warned people living in low lying areas to take precaution as heavy rainfall is predicted for today, which could cause flash flooding.

Duty Weather forecasters say a tropical depression was located 20km West-North-West of Cikobia at 5 o'clock this morning. The system is moving South-West at 15 kilometers per hour.

Forecasters say the tropical depression is slowly developing and is expected to form into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Associated cloud and heavy rain will affect the group today
with flooding of low lying areas, rivers and streams expected.

A strong wind warning remains in force for all Fiji waters as East to North East winds gusting to 65km per hour at times.

The indirect effects of the tropical depression are been felt in the Northern parts of the country.

Natewa Resident, Taniela Joji said they have been experiencing bad weather since last night.

Joji also adds that they are currently feeling the effects of the Tropical Depression now.
