A heavy rain warning remains in force for the whole of Fiji.

A flood warning remains in force for Rakiraki Town, Wailotua River, Ba River, Sigatoka River and Nadi River.

A flood alert remains in force for all low lying areas, Wainibuka River, Wainimala River, Rewa River and Navua River.

A strong wind warning remains in force for the whole of Fiji.

A Tropical Disturbance is located 195km southwest of Nadi.

It is moving southeast at about 20 kilometres per hour.

Associated active trough of low pressure remains slow moving over Fiji.

Most of the rivers in the country are above alert and warning levels.

People living in low lying areas are advised to move to high ground.

Heavy rain is expected to continue until Wednesday as another Tropical Disturbance located near Vanuatu is also heading our way.

Nadi Town closed

Nadi town is closed due to flooding.

Police in Nadi confirmed that flood waters have started entering many parts of Nadi town.

Momi village, Nadi back road, Qeleloa and Namotomoto are also flooded.

People staying in flood affected areas have been urged to move to high ground.

The Fiji Roads Authority said the Nadi river and Sabeto river levels have now reached the same level as Queens Road.

A resident of Waimalika, Sandhya Nand who was returning home from Suva said Waimalika road is flooded.

Nand said Sabeto and Legalega roads are also closed due to rising flood waters.

Police monitor Sigatoka River level

Sigatoka Police are closely monitoring the Sigatoka River level.

Sigatoka Town is still open however some businesses have decided to close early.

Police are advising people living in the low lying areas along Sigatoka River to start moving to high ground.

Meanwhile, Vilisite’s Restaurant which is located beside a creek in Sigatoka Town, is now flooded.

Ba River level continues to rise

Ba Police are monitoring the situation as the Ba River level continues to rise. 

Ba town is still open.

There have been no major reports of flooding in Ba but people have been urged to take precautionary measures as the next high tide is at 3:40 this afternoon.

110 been evacuated in Tavua

Police in Tavua are currently evacuating people from Korovou Village as heavy rain continues. 

110 men, women and children have been taken to Tavualevu Village hall. 

Nabuna, Rukuruku, Tavua-i-wai and Natawa villages are flooded and all the families have been moved to high ground.  

Rakiraki Town closed until further notice

People who live in Rakiraki Town are preparing for the worst as flood waters continue to rise in the area. 

Business owners in Rakiraki Town have also started moving their stock.

The town is now closed until further notice as it is no longer accessible to small vehicles. 

Rakiraki Town has been flooded from last night. 

Some residents of Naqoro Flats, FSC Road and Qalau Road as well as Barotu Circular Road are also starting to move to high ground as these roads have been flooded from last night. 

The Rewasa and Korotale Irish Crossings are under two to three feet of flood waters and closed to all traffic.

The Kings Highway intersection in Rakiraki is also flooded and closed. 

Most of the people on their way to Suva are stranded as their vehicles cannot pass through the flood waters.

Many people are still stranded in Paipai, Lautoka, as the temporary Irish crossing in the area has been washed away by flood waters. 

Resident Davindra Singh said the crossing is now closed to all vehicles and pedestrians.

The permanent crossing was damaged during Cyclone Winston.

Police teams ready to provide assistance in Labasa

Police teams are on the ground in Labasa to see if residents need assistance to move to the evacuation centres.

Police Commander Northern Shri Bhuwan Singh said the teams are in the flood prone areas such as Bulileka Low Coast, Vunika and Korovatu.

Singh said no one has been moved to the evacuation centres as yet.

He said rain has stopped and flood waters are receding in Siberia and Lajonia Road.

Meanwhile, Wainikoro Police said that Nadogo Central School and Navualevu Primary School are closed.
